The Toy Fox Terrier or TFT as he is known to his fans, is a dog of small stature with a huge heart.
Loyal, intelligent, playful & devoted, the TFT enjoys a special place in his masters heart.
Short haired, smooth coated with his trademark inverted V- shaped ears, the breed is long lived, healthy & hardy. It is common to find playful individulals living to 17 years or more.
The history of the TFT traces back to the farms & ranches of Middle America in the last century where it is thought the breed was developed to control rodent populations in homes, barns & outbuildings. Crosses of Fox Terriers & several Toy breeds created a diminutive ratter able to access their quarry in tight places.
So beloved was the plucky little Terrier, it is said his master would pack him up in his saddle bag to accompany him on his days work on the farm. The breed still retains his hunting & working instincts to this day.
As a family companion for children, active adults or the elderly, the TFT has proven to be a versitile family companion capable of adapting to every household setting. His keen intellect makes him a superior choice as a service animal as well.
